Danny's DadI don't think I can honestly say I ever saw a guy my age cry until today. Really cry.   
I didn't think it was possible for something like that to come from him. Everything was fine upstairs, you'd just think it was a casual party, the way the house was filled with people. But when we went downstairs, he detached himself from the group watching something on the computer to sit by me and her. She had a guitar and was playing it.   
She asked him if he wanted to play, he said no.   
She played some more, and then he reached out and softly sort of grabbed it. She asked him again and he just took it from her.  & Danny's Dad

The Concept of ReligionHe laughs, you know.  It's a very loud laugh, only, the kind that swells.  The kind that aren't caged by the throat and tend to take flight.   
I say something stupid.   
There's an awkward pause.   
And he erupts in laughter, and I admit that it wasn't that funny, but thank you for laughing anyway.  And the laughter subsides, and the words feel like a straight face,  Rigid, but unpressing, fierce eyes staring straight out to seemingly nowhere,  "So, child, how are you?"  "Same as ever.  You should know. The hypocrits. The criticism. The choices..."
